Flexibility
Obtaining true barefoot flexibility does not require a sacrifice in comfort. The 4-way stretch uppers are ideal for movement and provide easy foot entry. The material is insulated to offer the warmth needed during colder conditions and yet breathable for wear in warmer climates. Our product testing has also found the split-toe design ideal for narrower feet.
Performance
For those who are looking for active use, the split-toe design provides superior balance, agility and feeling for the surface. The big toe provides the push off drive and power while the remaining toes provide effective landing stability, balance, and steering. It may feel unusual to wear a split toe at first, but with continued use the more comfortable and normal they will feel. Our Original Line has a soft molded rubber bottom to provide ultimate grip for many surfaces along with molded traction lugs for added secure footing.
Fit
The split-toe design is a form-fitting option that prevents the foot from slipping or moving around inside the footwear. The molded frequency bands across the top additionally help to secure the foot during movement. Designed to flex with the natural movement of the foot they provide ultimate stability and comfort for many athletic activities.
*ZEMs are highly recommended for use without socks.
CARE
*ZEMs are not designed for day to day use on road or hard abrasive surfaces. While perfect for the beach or your local park, the design focus is for the most minimal control possible, allowing the foot to move and flex freely. In doing so the ZEMs are taylored to soft surfaces. Wearing them onroad or on hard surfaces will wear through the sole / seams quickly reducing the useable lifespan of the shoe.
Zems are a great, low cost way to trial minimalist running is a shoe that fits well, is super soft and flexible allowing for a great level of sensation while walking or running on grass or sand.
